  • Tips for aspiring volunteer firefighters:

    Don't assume being accepted as a volunteer is a given. Fire departments must commit a great deal of time and money into training each volunteer and outfitting them with gear. Plus, some fire departments in college towns, large cities or those with extensive training programs have many volunteer applications to choose from. So, it's important to create a good first impression and show you can follow directions.

      • Ex: Capitalize the first letter of your first / last name.
    • Be sure that your voicemail is set up with a professional greeting
